Vermeer TS44A Trailer mounted tree spade. Here is my Vermeer tree spade that is a factory trailer mounted unit. It is in superb mechanical and cosmetic condition. It is a xxxx model. The last time I got a price quote on one was 3-1/2 years ago and Vermeer wanted $27K for one. They haven?t gone down any since then.
Move your own trees. Move as many as you want and dont pay some tree mover $350-$500 per tree just to move them. This is what I did and now my 40 acre home site has 300 trees. I made my own forest and so can you.
This has been professionally maintained by me, a certified aircraft mechanic and maintenance inspector. The Kohler engine has been run on full syn oil since new. The oil and filters have been changed regularly. No hydraulic leaks. Hydraulic hoses are perfect.
This unit has only been used in a residential setting doing my landscaping and helping out a few friends with their landscaping. This is not a tree farm beater that has been worked to within an inch of its life. I estimate that this unit has about 200-250hrs total on the engine (probably less). I will be happy to spend a day teaching you the fine art of tree moving if you are not an experienced tree mover.
I have made a few improvements to the unit. Larger gas tank (5gal vs. 2.5gal orig.), support gussets on spade rest, HD supports for heavy steel fenders, chains on tank caps, tongue support gussets. These structural mods were done to improve strength in various areas where needed. This is the curse of being an aircraft inspector, if it?s not right or doesnt meet my standards I'll just fix it.
If you have trees to move this is the way to do it. These units never lose their value unless you somehow destroy them. You can buy one of these used, use it for a couple of years moving your trees and always sell them for basically what you bought it for. So you?ve done all your tree moving and then get your money back. You?ve paid nothing for the tree spade other than upkeep and maintenance. Basically the tree spade is free as far as net long term cost. This one runs perfectly and it looks great as I just painted it due to the fact that they do fade some sitting out in the sun and get somewhat sand blasted from being towed (on my gravel road).
